~...who..I..am...~
There are times when the earth is trembling and we all get lost
The cool summer morning air was even cooler above the plains. A soft mist was rolling around the rocks, playing hide and seek with them. The grasses and shrubs carried small droplets of water on them that had collected over the night. Birds were just waking as the red light from the sun began to break across the sky.
When the colors fade away and the darkness rises up and bursts
A young black colt trotted up the side of the mountain, down a path he had never walked before. His breath came in quick bursts, each exhale sending a wisp of white air out in the cool morning air. Though he trotted, his eyes showed confusion and slight fear. He was kinda lost and so very alone but no one he knew of wanted him and Lightning felt that he was but a burden to everyone.
Desperately we're searching for a place we can call "home"
Lightning leaped over a fallen log and slid to a stop, tossing his head in surprise. The log had come up fast on him and he realized he should pay better attention to where he was going. Lowering his head, the young colt walked on, mind still on where he was going and what he was going to do for his life.
And we will cross the ocean wide until we get the sense of our ride

With the sun rising, Bandit could feel the warmth upon his back. He loved to take leisurely walks away from the herd, but not too far. He lowered his head as the sun rose and started grazing on the grass before looking up at a young colt trotting along nearby. He kept his head down realizing it was Lighting. He watched the colt jump over a log and come to a stop. He raised his head and gave a friendly snort to the colt to show he was nearby. Bandit smiled a little and went back to nibble some more grass

Ears pricked to the sound of a friendly snort and the black colt stopped, turning to face a fellow mustang, who seemed busy eating. Lightning, not quite as shy as he was before in Spring, nickered in greeting after a few hesitating moments. But he was still too shy to approach the stranger, and stood still, head slightly cocked to the side.

The sun was rising a little higher and Bandit felt a slight breeze brush his mane over his eyes. Bandit raised his head from the ground hearing the nicker, gave a toss of his head and answered back, "Were you running from somethin' before?" Hoping the colt would like to chat a little and hoping he was just running for fun and not from something. Bandit could tell the colt was a little shy from the look in his eyes. He decided to walk toward the young black mustang, cautiously.

Can somebody tell me who I am, will I ever learn to live my dream
"I was just... trotting... not to or from anything..."
Will I be in harmony with the river deep underneath my skin
Lightning was surprised that the words came so easily to him, but he was more surprised at the fact he was standing still as the fellow mustang approached him. The black colt stood steady, yet still cautious. He was still not used to strangers and had no protection other than himself. There was no mother or father to look after him here and he knew he had to choose his friends and foes carefully.
Can somebody tell me who we are, we strayed from our path much too far
When he felt the stallion getting a little too close, Lightning took one step back so that the stallion, if he even cared, would know that he had a certain distance before Lightning felt threatened.
Will we ever see the flowers growing in our yard
"Are you of the Cimarron?"

Bandit stopped when he saw the colt step back. He usually liked being by himself, but also liked to spark up a conversation once in awhile. "I am. I just came here recently." He watched the black mustang for a moment and continued on. "My name is Bandit. Whats your's?" He stood waiting for an answer. He wasn't sure if the colt was scared of other horses or not. It was hard to read him.

"Lightning of the Cimarron, I think."
Lightning had never really gone to Spirit and asked if he could be part of the Cimarron. He just remembered running into the herd and staying here. He hadn't made any friends and the only ones he really knew were Esperanza and a stallion named Simba. And now he knew this stallion, Bandit. The black colt still hadn't made the diagnosis if the stallion was friend or foe yet he didn't seem to be bad. Lightning made a little bow of his head in greeting however to be nice.
"Nice to meet you, Bandit."

"Nice to meet you as well."
Bandit smiled a bit. He took one more step closer to show he was a friend. He was happy that Lightning was opening up a little, but a little confused that the colt wasn't sure with his position in the herd.
"You don't know if your from the Cimarron?"
Bandit didn't want to seem like he was prying into Lightnings life or anything. He really just wanted to talk. Hopefully the black mustang was willing to do the same.

When Bandit took a step closer, Lightning found that he didn’t mind it and stood still. The stallion didn’t seem to be a foe. At his question, the colt answered,
“I haven’t gone to Spirit yet to ask if I’m allowed to join… I ran into the herd a while back ago and I’ve just kinda hung around. I don’t even know if Spirit would want an orphan like me in his herd… I’d just be a burden…”
