The breeze softly whispered through the trees as they gently cradled leaves beginning their journey to the ground. An owl hooted in the distance followed by the sound of several crickets. Moonlight filtered through the branches of the trees, casting several silver spots in a clearing as a bay mare grazed, emerald orbs flicking this way and that for danger. Lifting her head, she closed her eyes as the wind caressed her raven colored mane and tail. Sighing, she went back to her grazing, keeping sure to keep her guard up in case anything were to happen.

Everybody wants me to be their angel
Everybody wants something they can cradle
Red like a wild fire, he spread through the forest with intense speed. Patches of moonlight hit his pelt, throwing its silvery glow over his red hide. At a glimpse, he would like like a fire spreading through the forest, burning everything in its path... but he was but a mustang, fiery red in hue, his mane and tail whipping behind him as he galloped through the forest.
They don't know I burn
They don't know I burn
They don't know I burn
They don't know I burn
From inside out, he burned... from the depths of his soul, he could feel it pushing him on... but where? Where was he going? And why was he still amoung the Cimarrion if he were a rouge. His eyes burned with a hot flame. Sweat rolled down his body, white lather forming on his chest.
Maybe there's a devil (or something like it) inside
Maybe there's a devil (or something like it) inside of me
Devil (or something like it) inside
Maybe there's a devil somewhere really deep inside me
Devil inside of me
Jealous angel deep inside me
Shetan dodged a tree to the left, then spun to the right, keeping his insanely fast pace through the forest. Why was he running? He didn't even know, but he just did, like something was pushing him... or possibly pulling him. A flash of dark canyon entered his mind and some mustang falling down it... His head jerked back in surprise at the sudden flash of memory and Shetan lost his balance, tumbling to the ground with a hard and heavy thud.
The red stallion lay for a moment, his chest heaving. He stretched his neck across the ground and closed his eyes, but his ears pricked to something and his nose picked up the scent of a mare...
"Katori?"
Shetan pushed himself to standing and found that he had somehow managed to fall near by to the mare. He swished his tail, shaking the leaves off that were caught in it and walked up to her. He didn't know why but, this was only one in the herd he really found to connect to. There was just something about her. He could no longer feel the fire inside his body and his eyes returned to thier soft brown.
"Hey, Katori."

Katori?
At the sound of a voice, the bay snapped her head up, tensed until she saw the familiar sight of Shetan. Sighing in relief, she smiled and nodded at him. Hello, Shetan she answered, noticing the fall he took earlier. You okay? That was a pretty nasty fall you took she asked, stepping closer to him. Usually, she would keep her distance around other horses, but he seemed different for some reason.

Shetan chuckled at her concern, his tail swishing away a few flies bugging his hocks.
"I'm fine. It probably looked worse than it actually was." He paused for a moment, realizing she was out here all alone. "What are you going here by yourself? Don't you belong to a herd?"
Shetan knew she was of the Cimarron and he had longed to be part of it, yet he had not seen Spirit yet to ask if he could join. As far as he was concerned, Shetan knew he could still be considered a rouge among lands and he could be unwanted. But as long as he had one friend inside the Cimarron herd, maybe no one would run him out before he had a chance to speak to Spirit.

At his words, the mare nodded, a small smile crossing her face. Chuckling, she lowered her head, pulling up a few blades of grass before looking back at him in time to catch his question. What are you going here by yourself? Don't you belong to a herd?. Her head tilted slightly before she smiled and nodded. I like to get away from herd life sometimes she answered, swishing her tail, she flicked her auds in question. What about you? What are you doing here by yoursef?

Shetan lowered his eyes at her question. He wanted to tell her why he was running and why he was alone, always alone, but he just couldn't. The red stallion looked at her with a soft smile, hiding his true feelings of pain and suffering.
"Just... roaming. I was actually hoping to find Spirit so I could ask if I be part of the Cimarron Herd. It's been something I've been wanting to do for a while. I find it rather nice here and the company is nice as well."

Katori smiled at his words, her head tilted in curiousity. That so, eh? Sometimes I wish I could be a rogue and not worry about anything. I guess it's pretty much opposite of what you're looking for she answered, her emerald eyes flicking to the sky as her raven colored mane and tail were caressed by the breeze. Looking back at Shetan, she spoke. Spirit went off somewhere by himself a while back and he hasn't returned since. But maybe our lead mare, Rain, can let you into the herd if you want.

Shetan watched her for a long moment, her words echoing in his head. He didn't even hear what she said afterwards... it all just melted away, he lost in thought. The wind blew through his red mane as he watched her, the long moment continuing on to minutes.
"Then... what's stoping you?"
Shetan's owns words seemed to echo in his head as said them, he never taking his gaze off of the mare.
"Go... become a rogue. Let none own you. Let the wind be your owner. Let the eagle be your wings. Go... if its truly what your heart desires."
"What's stopping you?"

Ebon tipped auds pricked at his words, and she stared back at the firey stallion. Jade orbs glazed in wonder as a small smile crossed her face as his words echoed in her ears. Go... become a rogue. Let none own you. Let the wind be your owner. Let the eagle be your wings. Go... if its truly what your heart desires.. What was stopping her, though? Tossing her head, she soon spoke, her tone clear and certain. Absolutely nothing's stopping me she said, trotting off toward the exit of the forest.

Shetan stood and watched as she left, his eyes showing little emotion.. but then a fiery light hit them and they widened in realization to something he felt deep in his soul. A small smile actually appeared on his maw and Shetan let out a laugh, bursting into a gallop after her.
As he neared her, Shetan slowed to a fancy trot, holding his head high as he pranced beside her.
"You know, being a rogue doesn't mean you have to be alone... perhaps I could join you? The Cimarron does not have to have a stallion like me. And I'd much rather be with you."

A coy smile crossed her muzzle as her emerald orbs glinted in amusement at his words. I'd like that she answered, watching as he pranced beside her. Tossing her head, she chuckled before giving him a playful shove. Although I do have to warn you, I can be quite stubborn she said, as she went into a canter, playfully bucking every now and then like a filly.

Shetan laughed as Katori shoved him, he having to side step to keep his balance. He tossed his head and cantered after her, bucking a kicking with a laugh. The red stallion came up beside her with a grin.
"Well good... I like a challenge!"
He said to her words about her being stubborn, and tossed his head, galloping ahead of her with a laugh.

Hearing his words, she grinned and ran after him, tossing her head. As she came up beside him, she smirked before pulling at his mane and running ahead of him, a laugh escaping her maw. Jumping over a fallen log, she increased her stride, letting her legs take control of her. She felt as though she had wings and could go wherever she pleased.

Shetan couldn't help but laugh as she tugged at his mane, then ran on ahead of him. The red stallion felt so strange yet he liked the feeling and what was more... he could not feel the burning fire inside of him that had for so long threatened to control him. He felt free like never before.
Shetan increased his speed and leaped over the log right after Katori. He shifted his body, coming up along side her left side, looking at her with a grin. He matched her speed, arching his neck playfully and grinning... of course, he wasn't looking where he was going and... ran smack dab into a tree.
Shetan fell to the ground, his head feeling like a rock had landed on it.
"Ow... Heh, heh... opps..."

She grinned at him and kept running, dodging a tree along the way. Shetan, though, wasn't so lucky. Hearing him hit something, she skidded to a stop and looked behind her to see the red stallion on the ground. Even though he could be hurt, she couldn't help but chuckle. Trotting over to him, she gave him a small nudge on his head before pulling his mane in a playful manner. You alright, Shetan? she asked, her jade eyes glinting in amusement.
