[Waste away I'm crawling blind Hollowed by what I left inside For you, just you I'm caught in place But I ignore what I can't erase]
Moonlight illuminated the plains as a few clouds skimmed its surface, barely blocking its silver light. Crickets chirped their nightly song and an owl hooted in the distance. In the midst of it all, a young horse ran, his strong muscles propelling him forward, trying to escaped the images in his head.
[Close my eyes theses voices say Haunting me, I can't escape For you, just you Time will always wait While I throw away what I can't replace]
Nostril flared as he increased his stride, the cool wind throwing his brown mane and tail back. Chesnut frame glinted in sweat as moonlight made his body glow in an almost ghost like way. His chocolated orbs narrowed against the spring breeze as more and more images popped into his head. A white filly proclaiming her love for him, a blue roan rearing above him, muzzle covered in blood. He shook his head and ran faster, ignoring the heated pain in his legs and haunches. He had to make the images go away, even if just for a little while.
[I will run and hide till memories fade away And I will leave behind a love so strong]
The most images he had had of someone was of the white filly, a gray stallion and a brown mare. Who were they? Friends or foes? He didn't know and he wondered if he ever would. Snorting, he kept running, sending grass flying in his wake. (Yay! Song time! ^_^ : Red- Hide )

The wind blew softly, caressing the tall grasses of the plains. Moonlight set a silvery glow over the land, its beauty unmatched.
Ears pricked and twitched to every sound, but none registered to threat. Softly, she slept, allowing rest to sink deep into her bones and generate her strength. Hoof beats entered her ears and the painted mare’s head snapped up out of her restful snooze. Had she not woken up when she did, she would have been barreled over by a chestnut colt. Rain snorted and leaped off to the side, tossing her head.
“Easy there! You’ll get your self hurt or someone else. Everything okay?”

Nares flared in alarm as he spotted a paint mare leap out of the way and he slowed to a stop, tossing his head. Easy there! You’ll get your self hurt or someone else. Everything okay?. The chestnut colt nodded, his chest rising and falling heavily with each breath he took. Yeah...sorry about that, Rain he answered, bowing his head slightly in apology.

Rain smiled and nodded her head to him in reassurance she wasn't angry at him.
"It's alright. It just seems a little late to running in the dark, then again, the moon is full tonight, except for those patchy clouds.
She paused for a moment looking at the clouds, tail swishing slightly at her hocks. Rain then looked to Swifhoof, question in her eyes.
"Are you running from something or for something, Swifthoof?"

Auds pricked at the paint's words and he smiled slightly, nodding. Turning his head toward the moon, a small sigh escaped his muzzle, his breath shimmering momentarily in the moonlight before being carried away by a breeze. Snorting, he looked at Rain, hearing her speak again.
Are you running from something or for something, Swifthoof?
The colt blinked at her question and took a few moments to answer, wondering how much he should tell the lead mare. Lowering his head, he pulled up a few blades of grass before swallowing them. Sighing, he soon answered. Just..running away from my thoughts

"Running... from your thoughts..."
Rain could tell there was more to that but it didn't seem that he wanted to share so she didn't push the matter to find out what the problem was.
"Sometimes its best to run... sometimes it helps... But not always is it best to run away."
With this advice, Rain turned and began to graze, wondering where Spirit was for she hadn't seen him in a while.

Running... from your thoughts..
At her response, the colt nodded, bending his head to graze again. Flicking his ears at her voice again, he nodded once again, brown orbs narrowing. Sighing, he looked over at the sky watching the stars twinkle in the abyss of indigo. Turning back to Rain, he asked Do you know where Spirit is?

Rain lifted her head at the question of Spirit and looked out over the plains, searching for him.
"No... I'm afraid I haven't seen him in a while and it has me a bit worried. Spirit wouldn't run off, I know, but, I swear, that stallion could make my mane fall out he makes me worry so much. Where ever he is, I hope he shows up soon. It feels as if the herd is vulnerable when he is not here."

A small, barely visible smile appeared on the colt's muzzle at her words. That may be, but I'm sure a lot of horses are willing to protect the herd at all costs he answered, tossing his head. Snorting, he looked toward the horizon, ears pricked as if he expected the buckskin to come running back to the herd.

"Yes, that is true... There are many who would die to protect this herd."
Rain agreed, dropping her head to eat a mouthful more of grass, but she did still secretly worry, more that something was wrong or he was in trouble somewhere. The pinto raised her head again, her gaze stretching out across the plains, hoping to see him.
"When Spirit gets back here, I'll give him a peice of my mind. We'll see how many more times he'll run off when I'm finished with him."
Rain's tone was a bit angered but more in play to lighten the mood and help ease her own worry about where he was.

At her answer, the colt chuckled slightly, a small smile crossing his face. I bet you would. I'd do the same thing if I was in your position he answered, picking up some grass again. Snorting, he looked across the plains, auds pricked as his nostrils twitched to every scent. Sighing, he shifted his gaze back to the sky, emjoying the breeze that went through the area.

Rain nodded her head in agreement to his statement. An owl hooted in the distance, her ears pricking to the noise. The pinto stepped uneasily for a moment, the wind dying down, then dropped her head to graze again. Spirit had never been gone for this long before and it was eating her up inside that he wasn't back.

A soft snort left his nostrils as he raised his head, watching for enemies. Auds pricked to the hoot of an owl and he looked around, spotting it in a nearby tree. Satisfied, his tail swished in the breeze as he looked over at Rain. He could tell that Spirit being gone was probably worrying her, so he asked. Care to join me for a run?

Rain's ears pricked to his words and she lifted her head, looking at him in wonder. She hadn't gone for a run in what seemed like ages. Maybe it would do her some good. Rain dipped her head in agreement.
"Perhaps a run would be good for me. It'll help ease my worry."
With a toss of her head, Rain trotted off before hopping into a canter.

The colt nodded and followed the paint, his legs propelling him into a canter. Tossing his head, he matched Rain's pace before going into a gallop. Snorting, he slowly started to increase his speed, liking the way the wind whistled in his ears and threw back his brown mane and tail.
