Lightning
"Run With Me & Feel the Power"
Lightning pranced in place, tossing his head, acting as if he hadn't heard Simba's words. He looked to Simba, stopping his elegant prancing.
"Why? I always stay here and play and nothing's never happ-"
His words were cut off by the roar of a cougar, who exposed his sleek, predatory body from the bushes behind the black colt. Lightning whinnied in surprise, turning quick to see the cougar's outstretched jaws and claws coming for his exposed neck. Lightning was suddenly taken back deep in his mind to his past...
~Flashback~
Lightning stood under his mother, a beautiful black mare, Star Dancer. Her eyes were filled with worry and uneasiness. Lightning was just a few days old but was surprisingly well formed in his legs. His mother looked nervously around, whispering,
"Come on, dear...please hurry...."
Lightning was oblivious to the problem but soon knew when a familiar roar entered the plains and a large cougar leaped from the cover over a boulder. He landed on Star Dancer's back, who whinnied in fear, rearing up above her son.
"Run, Lightning, run! Run as fast as you can and don't look back!"
Lightning whinnied in nfear but did as his mother said, turning and running as fast as he could away. He ran for a ways before getting the thought to look back. He looked back only once and regretted his sight....Star Dancer lie on the ground with the cougar latched onto her neck but soon a black stallion appeared and the cougar was crushed beneath his hooves. Lightning feared this stallion and heard the stallion shout his name but he ran on and on just as his mother had told him....
Keep running....just keep running.....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lightning suddenly was pulled out of his memory and found himself running through the Cimarron forest at an alarming rate. He couldn't remember how he had escaped and looked back to see if the cougar was following but could not see him. Lightning, during his memory, had bolted off into the forests just before the cat could land on him only now he didn't know where he was.
Lightning suddenly tripped over a root and fell hard on the ground, letting out a scared, pitiful whinny. Hot tears filled his eyes as the memory of the flashback burned in his head. The tears rolled down his face and he sobbed alone.
"Mama......"
The black colt stretched his head across the ground, calling for his mom, hoping she would answer but heard nothing. In anger and sadness, he slammed his head hard on the ground and cried, his voice echoing through the forest like the wail of a ghost child.
"Mama.....mama!"
He didn't know how far he had wandered from Simba and Esperanza but he knew that he was alone once again.
