Bonita entered the area, looking around and taking everything in. She was new to this strange land, shehad just became part of the Cimarron herd. She trotted to the small river. She then stopped and dipped her stunning white head, ears flicked at all the sounds around her, she wondered if this was a good place for her, and wondered if others who like her. She drank of the sweet water. A eagle flew above her and sang out to all. She looked up towards the huge bird, eyes never leaving it's sight. She nickered softly towards it, teh great bird did not hear her though. She sighed, then looked around as the lush fields. She hoped that she would soon make friends here, none had talked to her since she made her way here. It was fine though, Bonita knew someone who come along in the end,she swatted at teh annoying flys biting her.
It was beautiful here, it was peaceful, it was her new home, and a new chance at life. She bent down and began to eat the lushious grass, she closed her eyes. "Mmm." she said as she took in more, this really hit the spot.

The day was hot. The sun was blazing high in the zenith of the sky, a large yellowish white circle. An eagle soared across the sky, it's form blotting out the sun for half a second, the light glowing through its wing feathers.
Esperanza looked up. On a day like this, she should have been half asleep, enjoying the sun's warmth, lazing around. But today there was a gnawing anxiousness in her heart that wouldn't relent. The old palomino mare nipped at her chest as if she could drive it away. She couldn't. The only things she could drive away were those pesky flies; with a flick of her flaxen tail they scattered, only to return, no doubt, at a later time.
With a tired snort, she walked over to the river. It was shallow and wide hear, an ideal place to cool off and quench one's thirst. She waded out into the middle, where the cool water was above her knees and hocks, and took a long drink. When she was done, she tossed her head up, letting the water droplets fall over her chest. It felt nice to her skin, but nothing could cool the burning in her heart. The mare glanced over to where a small group of buffalo had come down to the river to drink. She gazed at them a moment before moving on.
It was there were she found another mare, this one white, grazing in the lush grasslands. Esperanza nickered in greeting, flicking her tail once more to drive the flies away.

The sun made her white coat shine in the sun, making it almost blinding. It was hot, very hot indeed. Bonita was used to it though, due to many hot days in Texas, a soft sigh came from the mare. She wondered if Maria had made a new life aswell and if all was alright. She missed her dearly.
The white mare heard a distant nicker of greeting. She looked up and saw the palomino mare nearby, she guessed it was the lead mare. Bonita threw her head up in the air and let out a long nicker in return. She wondered if this mare would become a friend to her. Since she had made her way her she had spent much of her time alone, even though she was part of the herd she was afriad to get close to anyone. Out of fear of not being liked. Slowly,Bonita walked towards the other mare.

Esperanza nodded her head in greeting as the other mare walked over, blonde forelock flopping into her eyes. "Hello," she said with a friendly smile. "You're new here, aren't you?" The question wasn't asked in a rude way at all; in fact, the palomino seemed very amiable and eager to make friends, although there was something oddly distant about her voice. She wondered about all the new members that seemed to be wandering through these lands. Her son and his mate -- the pair that were supposed to be leading this herd -- still were missing, which might have made the Cimarron territory more inviting for trespassers -- in particular, she remembered the black stallion who had attacked her in the spring. The very thought of him sent a black shiver down her spine. Who was he?
Stop being ridiculous, she told herself. This white mare wasn't a trespasser, but a welcome new herd member. Banishing the memory with a toss of her mane, the mare set about to grazing. She hadn't eaten much this morning, out of nervousness, but her brain told her that she had to eat something. Munching absently on a clump of grass, she lifted her head to look at the white mare, waiting for an answer. She chewed slowly, but swallowed it without remembering the taste. There were other things on her mind. The palomino blinked to shoo away some flies that were trying to land around her eyelashes. Pesky little creatures, they were trespassers in there own right --no, stop thinking about that. Maybe the other mare would be interested in having a conversation; Esperanza really needed to talk right now. The more she thought about Spirit's absence, the more uneasy she felt.
