In other words, the Thread Of Which Espie Shall Put Stuff That She Hasn't Put Anywhere Else.
The Setting
1800's-ish. Around the time of the Battle of Little Bighorn. In the western part of the USA. Think Montana, Idaho, the Dakotas, Colorado, Arizona...think Lewis and Clark Expedition. The US Army are still fighting with the Indians, railroads are being built, etc.
Other Animals
Any animals native to this region. White settlers haven't driven everything into the mountains yet, so grizzly bears, elk, deer, buffalo, cougars, wolves, coyotes, and pronghorn antelope still roam the Great Planes in large numbers.
How we are different then other equine RPGS
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with RPs of that sort, but that just isn't what you should expect from HotC. ^_^

- We do not have the whole Light, Dark, and Neutral thing going on. Herds here are defined by the horses, not the other way around.
- You don't need to worry about breeds. Common sense would say that at HotC we mostly RP Mustangs (Kiger Mustangs and Spanish Mustangs included too); but as Mustangs are feral horses descended from domestic animals, and they have a wide gene pool, there is a lot of different characteristics, so it's not as if you have to play clones of all the other characters. Horses in captivity, mostly the fort, may be Quarter Horses or Thouroughbreds or something of that sort, but it's really not an important part of the site.
- "M'ladies, and fine gents, w'do not speak in such eloquent language. Thou must have realized th' this is not the Middle Ages. It is perfectly acceptable t'have an accent like this, if y'want your character t'be th'way, but please don't expect ev'ryone t'respon' in like manner."
- We don't encourage leg muscles and male deer running around on architectural structure, with ribbons blowing in the wind. (Femoras and stags running around on pillars, if you didn't get it. Wolfspeak=bad.)
- We don't force you to count words. This is supposed to be a fun RPG, not an English test.
