No Reins

[Swifthoof]

A chilly breeze blew across the land, making the yellow stalks of grass sway gently. The emerald gaze of a mare flicked across the land as she searched for danger while looking for her friend, Shetan. Recently, during the summer she had escaped her herd in order to live the life of a rouge and Shetan had joined her. Sighing, she lowered her head to graze as another breeze came and softly blew her ebon mane and tail as her ears flicked around for any dangers.

Thundering daggers pierced the mother earth, grass tearing in its wake. Red like a wild fire, form moved across the land with the same swift speed. Head held high, fiery red eyes burning with a passion to run, a passion to fly. An eagle threw his shadow over the mustang as he flew above him, racing him across the plains. The eagles cry echoed across the land followed by the mustangs own neigh of freedom. He was free and unbound.

At the sight of Katori, Shetan tossed his head and let out a nicker in greeting, leaping into a buck as he ran for her. He slid to a stop beside her, nipping at her mane playfully and then leaping away, acting like a young colt. Shetan danced in place, tossing his head, unable to stop smiling.

“Hey, Katori. Doing alright?”

Her ears pricked at the sound of hooves and she raised her head to see Shetan galloping toward her. A small smile crossed her face and she tossed her head as he stopped beside her, bucking like a colt. A chuckle escaped her as she heard his words. I'm fine. How about you? she answered, as she lowered her gaze, feeling her cheeks heat up a bit. I guess you could say that she had a crush on him.

Shetan smiled, shaking his head in the cool autumn air.

“I’m great. I don’t think I’ve ever felt better. In fact, I know I’ve never been better.”

Shetan brushed his head up against her neck, chuckling softly.

“Thanks to you, of course.”

Since he’d met her, the fire inside had gone down so much, he hadn’t felt a single tug from it and he had not let it escape.

At his touch, she gulped and tensed, feeling a blush grow across her cheeks. Heck, she could have swooned if she wanted to. Composing herself, she smiled and playfully pulled at his fiery red mane. No problem, I'm glad to help she answererd, grinning. A cool breeze blew through the area and the mare found herself closing her eyes, enjoying it.

Shetan laughed as she tugged at his mane and he in turn pulled hers. The wind blew through Shetan’s mane and he closed his eyes as well, feeling the cool breeze of freedom. He opened one eye seeing Katori had her eyes closed too, then he put his muzzle close to her ear and whispered,

“Tag… your it!”

Shetan tagged her with his nose and leaped away laughing, turning to face her, prepared to run or leap, whichever came first to his mind.

Feeling his breath on her ear, she felt a shiver down her spine and she smiled before running after him. She grinned before skidding to a stop in front of him and aimed to tag his nose with her own, her emerald orbs sparkling in amusement.

Shetan laughed as she ran for him, but he allowed her to tag his nose, he grinning when he felt her touch. He felt a warmth unmatched as her nose touched his and he didn't want it to end.

"Darn... you got me."

He laughed and tried to nip her mane to tag her.

As their noses connected, the mare smiled before slowly stepping away. A blush appeared on her cheeks and she grinned before she leaped at him and aimed to tackle him to the ground in a playful manner.

Shetan laughed as she leaped at him, and he allowed her to push him to the ground, he kinda falling away from her so neither got hurt. He chuckled as he looked at Katori, searching deep into her eyes, somehow getting lost in thier emerald sea.

"Wow... Katori... you have beautiful eyes."

[Swifthoof]

She grinned as she managed to push him down before her black tipped auds caught his words. She blinked in surprise as a deeper blush managed to catch her cheeks. A shy smile crossed her muzzle as she answered. Thanks..you have beautiful eyes too. Nipping at his forelock, her eyes met his brown ones as she found herself almost lost in their chocolate gaze.

Shetan couldn't contain himself anymore. His body felt like it was in a cold sweat, and the longer he was lost in her eyes, the more the heat grew within him. He felt he was gonna explode, and as if drawn to her, Shetan nuzzled her, and then as if by impulse, whispered to her,

[The good things in life are hard to find.]
[We're blowin away, blownin away]
[Can we make this something good?]

"Katori... I love you. You are the water that douses my flame and that same time you ignite it. Without you, I am nothing but a broken fighter."

[Well I'll try to do to it right this time around]

[But a part of me is dead and in the ground.]
[This love is killin me]
[But your the only one]

Hearing his words, she smiled and nuzzled him back, her eyes closing. Soon, she spoke, her voice soft. I love you too, Shetan..and I always will she said, nuzzling him again as her nostrils were filled with his wonderful scent

Shetan couldn't belive that she loved him... but he knew her true test would be when she saw his other side... only then would he truly know that she loved him. Shetan looked away from her, pushing her off him as he stood up, keeping his eyes toward the ground and away from her gaze.

"Katori... I'm sorry... but... you... you don't know me.... enough to know..."

Shetan hated doing this. He hated pushing her away, but it was the only thing he could think of to do now. He didn't know what else he could do.

"You can't love me... not yet, anyway."

A confused look crossed her face as he pushed her off of him and stood up. Snorting, she stood up as well, her ebon tail swishing in the wind. At his words, she blinked in surprise as a hurt look crossed her face, but it was gone as quickly as it had come. If it was anything she hated it was showing weakness which was why she kept up a strong shell around herself, blocking everything out except for Shetan. Sighing, she spoke. Then when can I love you? she asked, taking a step toward him.
