Autumn, a time of change when the leaves turn from green to various fall colors and when the animals start to gather food for the oncoming winter months. A time when the trees loose their brilliant foliage and are left bare, dead looking.
Serenity, the white mare from the cimarron herd was enjoying her walk in the serene fall forest. She enjoyed the fall leaves crunching against her hooves and the smoky fall smell of the cool crisp air. She halted, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath, savoring the smell. Ah, such a nice smell, the female thought and opened her eyes again. She turned her head to look at the small birds that were flying from tree to tree, and then taking off completely to seek a warmer climate. "Aw, that's a shame," she said with a sigh and shivered a little as a small breeze came by, causing the leaves to twirl and dance. Her light blue orbs glanced down at the leaves for a minute before looking up again and continuing to walk. So far, a walk in the forest was nice, peaceful even.

Brown orbs flicked back and forth as a chestnut colt slowly made his way into the forest, auds strained for danger. He usually wasn't this paranoid, but ever since he got into a fight with an intruding stallion he was always careful. Satisfied, he let his body relax as he let the various scenes of autumn sink it. A small smile crossed his muzzle as he looked around, his head tilted in wonder. A breeze blew through the area, caressing his brown mane and tail and he grinned before taking off at a gallop, dodging trees and fallen logs.
A flash of white soon crossed into his line of vision and he skidded to a stop, coming nose to nose with an ivory colored mare. His eyes widened in surprise as he stared into light blue eyes before leaping back and lowering his head in apology. Sorry about that..I didn't look where I was going

The colorless mare's eyes widened as she saw the spirited equine come galloping in, almost crashing into her. She was relieved when he stopped just in time and almost let out a laugh as she watched him lower his head in apology and started to apologize. She playfully nudged him lightly on the neck, letting him know that she wasn't angry and said lightheartedly, "Eh it's ok, no one was hurt. My, you're a fast one though!"

A small smile crossed his face as he felt her nudge and he raised his head, looking over at her. Hearing her words, he chuckled before replying. Thanks. My name's Swifthoof by the way. What your's? he asked, tossing his head as his chocolate pools lit in curiousity.

"Serenity," she nickered polietly. "Swifthoof huh? The name suits you well from what I see. So what brings you here to the forest?" She was curious and wanted to learn a little bit about him. Swifthoof, Swifthoof...was he a member of the Cimarron Herd? Oh he must be if he's on Cimarron Lands.

At her words, the colt couldn't help but grin. Thanks, Serenity. Nice to meet you by the way. As for what brings me here..I guess I just needed to run for awhile..How about you? he answered, as his brown eyes looked her over. Strangely, she looked exactly like the mare from his images that were in his head, but he shrugged it off. There were probably a lot of white mares in these lands.

The mare shrugged. "I just came here to look at the beauty of the place in the fall and to wander a little I guess. Basically walking around." She grinned and started to walk around Swifthoof while trying to think of what to do next. While she was doing this, her eyes were partially on him and partially looking forward in deep thought. "How fast do you think you can possibly go?" By the time she finished her question, she was in front of the chestnut colt again. Her eyes had some kind of twinkle in them.

A small smirk crossed his face at her words as he watched her walk around him, hearing her words. A chuckle escaped him as he snorted. Don't know..guess we'll find out he answered as she stopped in front of him, a challenge in his brown orbs.

She raised her invisible brow and let a smirk lace her face. "Oh really, hm that's interesting. Do you think fast enough to I don't know, let's say...beat me?" The playful, mischievous twinkle was still showing in her azure orbs. She could see all the challenge in his eyes...and enjoyed it.

He chuckled at her words and it was his turn to walk around her, a small smirk crossing his muzzle. Possibly he answered, his smirk turning into a grin as he stopped in front of her. Tossing his head, he looked toward the depths of the forest, seeing some leaves fall to the ground as another cool breeze blew by. Are you suggesting a race? he continued, raising an eyebrow

Serenity loved this little game, whatever that game was. She chuckled and rolled her eyes. "Maybe I am, maybe I'm not," she simply answered as she walked two steps in front of Swifthoof, and then stopped again, observing the forest ahead. "Of course, we should probably find somewhere more clear to run, unless you can handle this kind of terrain?" She was guessing that he could, based on him galloping earlier here.

The chestnut colt couldn't help but smile at her words. He just met her and he already liked her. Maybe it was her spunkyness, he didn't know, but he hoped that maybe him and Serenity could become friends. Snorting, he watched as she took a couple steps in front of him, gazing at the forest ahead. At her question, he smirked and stepped up beside her. The question is, can you? he responded, a teasing twinkle in his chocolate orbs.

Serenity laughed and shook her head. "Oh Swifthoof, Swifthoof, Swifthoof. Of course I can handle it." She was prancing around in circles and stopped at the head of him again. Her head was held high in confidence. She glanced at him again and smiled. "Shall we begin?"

He laughed at her words and watched as she pranced in circles around him. We shall he answered, grinning. Tossing his head, he pawed the ground as his eyes were kept on a far tree ahead, but to get to it there were several trees and bushes they would have to dodge and jump. He smirked. Their own little obsticle course. How fun. Pointing to the tree, he said. There's the finish line. First one there's the winner. On three...one..two...three!. As soon as the words left his mouth, he took off, his muscular legs a blur as he ran.

Serenity watched for a minute in amazement as Swifthoof went speeding past her as soon as he counted to three. Wow...oops, better get going! She suddenly took off at a gallop, trying to catch up to the blurry image of the colt. She enjoyed the breeze, the feel of running, and the fast beating of her heart to keep the blood flowing. She jumped over a fallen log and nearly missed a tree. The energetic mare could see Swifthoof's tail and his back legs. "Nice speed, but when are you going to slow down?" she called out and chuckled.
